I don´t know that ara travel agents helpful nowdays because i dont´n travel very much but in mi opinion i think that It can have advantages and disadvantages to day!!!
I prefer buy mi tickets at the travel agency because some times internet can be dangerous and you can lost your money!!!

Nira nira! are the agencies that lies us....!!! it's the true!
I believe that a travel agent is helpful in noxdays because is easier to find the tickets and you don´t need to feel crazy searching the tickets on internet.
